Steven Vaughn PGA Teaching Professional
Steven Vaughn will be in his 17th year as the PGA Professional at Sagamore Spring Golf Club. Steven was originally born and raised in Greenfield, MA. This is where he learned to play golf at the age of seven and was a member at the Country Club of Greenfield. He went to New Hampshire College (a.k.a Southern New Hampshire University) and received a degree in Sport Management in 1998 and is currently an adjunct professor at the university teaching golf facility management during the wintertime. He turned professional during the summer of 1998 while working at Stonebridge Country Club. Steven has graduated from the PGA of America’s Professional Golf Management Program (PGM) and has his Class “A” PGA Card. Steven will be heading up all the golf instruction at the Sagamore Learning Center. The Sagamore Learning Center will be offering individual, group, and junior instruction. Steven will be giving instruction with the assistance of many golf-training aids, and he is also a certified golf club fitter and will be doing the custom club fitting at the course with major club companies like Titleist. Purchasing correctly fit equipment in golf is just as important as getting properly fit for any other sports equipment.
Steven Vaughn's Teaching Philosophy
#1—Interview the student
#2—Student warms up on the practice range
#3—Evaluate three pre-swing fundamentals: Grip, Stance, and Posture
#4—Observe student hitting golf balls: Paying attention to ball flight
#5—Individual instruction is then tailored to students 2 or 3 swing needs
#6—Drills, swing training aids, and/or swing analyzing software used to enhance student’s new swing
#7—Lesson summary, on paper, with hand written drills for student to practice on their own
